Riaan was born in May 1992 in Pretoria, South Africa, to his father, Franna, who is a singer. His father was part of the popular 1990s Afrikaans singing duo Innes en Franna.
Education
Benadé graduated from the Technical University of Tshwane, where he majored in guitar. He holds a 3-year diploma in Jazz music.

Career
Riaan’s debut album,”Spotaan which was released in 2020, was the most-streamed Afrikaans album on Spotify. He also won the Most Successful Afrikaans single by a male artist for his track “Rowwe Bliksem” in 2022.
Benadé has co-written notable tracks like Bok van Blerk’s “Land en Strand” and Ruhan du Toit’s “Monumentaal.” The duet with Demi Lee Moore on “There Was Jesus” has over 10 million views on YouTube. He is the first South African artist approached by Spotify to release an exclusive single.
Riaan has also performed at venues like Skilpad Teater, The Barn, and Weiveld.
He has co-written notable tracks like Bok van Blerk’s “Land en Strand” and Ruhan du Toit’s “Monumentaal.” Benadé released the single Kattebak under Warner Music Africa in 2026.He collaborated with Ricus Nel to release the single 308.
Benadé appeared as a guest actor in 2021 as Gasspeler on Getroud met rugby.
