Wilson Bafana is a South African radio broadcaster, copywriter, and television personality. Nkosi was born in Pief Retief, now known as eMkhondo, Mpumalanga on April 24 1967.
Nkosi presented on television shows such as Jam Alley and Sidlalela Intsha. He has also hosted the morning and afternoon drive-time slots on Metro FM. And honoured with the GQ Men of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award (2024).

Early Life
Wilson grew up and attended a boarding school in Swaziland (now Eswatini). While growing up, he had always wanted to become a radio Disc Jockey, and at the young age of 19, he became one of Metro FM’s DJs.
Career
After graduation, Nkosi applied at the SABC for a job as a broadcaster. The SABC informed him of the launch of Radio Metropolitan, which later became Metro FM. At 19, he became one of the station’s DJs after a successful audition.
In 1992, Nkosi was one of the first presenters of the SABC1 music game show. He also hosts the long-running Sunday morning show, “Sounds and Stuff Like That.
Wilson founded the Wilson B. Nkosi Communications in 1995. This was to enable him to write and produce radio and television commercials. Wilson is also a copywriter. He landed his first gig as a copywriter at J Walter Thompson, and still works with them as a resident writer.

In 1992, Nkosi debuted as one of the original hosts of the legendary SABC1 music game show Jam Alley. His television portfolio also includes hosting the request-based program Sidlalela Intsha, Sidlalela Ulutsha. And serving as a guest presenter for Studio Mix when regular host Bob Mabena was unavailable.
He continues to work for ad agencies as a writer and voice-over artist. In 2021, Toastmasters Southern Africa recognised his excellence in public speaking and influence by presenting him with the Communication and Leadership Award.
In 2023, the Malumbi Foundation, in collaboration with Mpumalanga’s Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation, celebrated his lasting impact by presenting him with a Certificate of Recognition for Legendary Achievement in the Creative Industry at The Art of Legends Awards.
Wilson also received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the inaugural South African Voiceover Awards (TSVA) on Saturday, 4 October 2025.
