Siyabonga Ngwekazi (born March 16, 1982), known as Scoop Makhathini, is a South African content creator, television presenter, and entrepreneur. He is well known for hosting the SABC1 pop culture magazine show Street Journal.
He made his television debut in 2006 and rose to the limelight after hosting the show titled, Turn Up. The show is recognised for launching the television career of Scoop Makhathini

Early life
Scoop Makhathini was born on 16 March 1982 in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape.
Career

Makhathini worked as a television presenter for the SABC1 pop culture magazine show. He was a digital host for the 2010 16th annual South African music awards in Sun City.
Scoop co-hosted the 8th annual Metro Awards Ceremony in 2018 alongside Penny Lebyane. He replaced Trevor Noah on the celebrity gossip show The Real Goboza (season 2) as a presenter in 2008. He was a co-host for V-Entertainment, the daily celebrity news show, in 2009.
Makhathini also launched a web show. He co-hosted the Hip-Hop show ‘The Rodeo’, alongside Bontle Modiselle on YFM in October 2018.
Scoop also collaborated with the international cognac brand, Hennessy. He was named South Africa’s ambassador for the Hennessy x NBA campaign in 2021. He received the Best Fashion Icon Award presented by Crocs at the GQ Best Dressed 2024.
Makhathini and Luthando ”LootLOve” AShosha hosted the Metro FM Music Awards in May, 2025. He was also a host for the 31st edition of the South African Music Awards (SAMAs), alongside Pamela Mtanga, in 2025.
Personal life
Scoop Makhathini was in a relationship with entrepreneur Akhona Lali. He is a father to a son.
